Keith Rohman and Allison West, Esq. of Employment Practices Specialists presented “Is the Truth Out There ? A Philosophical, Legal, Psychological, and Investigative Inquiry” at the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) Annual Conference on October 15, 2026 in Seattle, WA. 

In a creative, conversational format, Rohman and West discussed the challenges workplace investigators face in confronting “the truth” every day, applying evidentiary standards, assessing credibility, and reaching findings grounded in policy and evidence. Yet beneath every investigation lies a deeper question: What does the “truth” mean? Using philosophy and psychological research, as well as scenes from movies and sports instant replays, the presenters discussed investigators’relationship to this fundamental question.

The in-depth discussion demonstrated how a greater understanding of the concept of truth can improve investigations.
