Allegations of bribery, kickbacks, accounting and payroll fraud, theft of products or supplies, conflicts of interest in contracting, public corruption, acts or threats of violence, and office break-ins all include criminal elements.

Participants will learn tactics for conducting investigations with criminal elements:

  • Determining whether subject matter experts are needed and the proper scope
  • Working with relevant stakeholders
  • When or whether to call in law enforcement
  • Drafting an investigative plan
  • Modifying interview approaches to fit the facts
  • Complexities of investigations involving elected or appointed officials
  • Conducting investigations in a heavily unionized environment
