NY Times Case dropped against David Huerta

PII Assisted David Huerta’s Defense Counsel

Public Interest Investigations was pleased to assist the criminal defense lawyers for David Huerta, California president of the Service Employees International Union.

As reported in the New York Times on July 27, 2026, Huerta was arrested in June 2025 by federal agents claiming he had impeded their work during an immigration raid on a clothing wholesaler in Los Angeles.

The U.S. attorney’s Los Angeles office announced that Huerta’s case would be officially dismissed, as long as Huerta followed the conditions of his pretrial release agreement and not violate any laws.
