Campus Investigations
Private colleges, public universities, community colleges, and public and private K-12 schools turn to PII to investigate allegations under Title IX, Title VII, and Title VI of the Education Amendments of 1972, and pursuant to their school’s policies & procedures.
PII’s investigators maintain critical objectivity while employing trauma-informed interviewing techniques to determine the facts in matters involving students, faculty, staff, and other parties in classrooms, campus housing, and off-campus settings. We apply extensive experience managing sensitive issues including sexual harassment, discrimination, bullying, and retaliation, as well as whistle-blower complaints of school construction on potentially toxic sites, and complaints filed pursuant to Uniform Complaint Procedures.
Unique Qualifications
For over 40 years, PII has focused exclusively on investigating allegations involving civil rights, human rights, and criminal violations, making the firm uniquely qualified to deliver neutral investigations. Our seasoned investigators apply deep experience conducting trauma-informed forensic interviews and investigating complaints of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking, and sexual exploitation.
For institutions facing the competing demands of governmental regulators, students, legal counsel, faculty organizations, parents, alumni, and donors, PII’s investigators have the backgrounds, experience, and credentials to satisfy all stakeholders in the campus community.
Our Team
PII’s team of attorneys and licensed investigators applies significant experience interviewing parties who may have been exposed to a variety of traumatic experiences, bringing sensitivity and perspective to this difficult work. Additionally, our investigators have undertaken extensive training in conducting sexual misconduct investigations, including certifications from T9 Mastered, the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA), and The Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI). This training includes interview techniques and updates on best practices for investigating intimate partner violence and stalking allegations.
