Los Angeles, California, June 17, 2009 – The Los Angeles Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild honored Keith Rohman, president of Public Interest Investigations, Inc., at its annual dinner on June 14, 2009.
Rohman was among several distinguished honorees recognized by the organization. Other recipients were Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of the U.C. Irvine School of Law; Gary Silbiger, an elected official in Culver City, California; Barbara Honig, an educator and community activist; and participants in the Carwash Workers Campaign, an effort to secure better wages and working conditions for those employed by Los Angeles’s car washes.
Rohman, who was introduced at the event by Larry Frank, deputy mayor of the City of Los Angeles, was recognized for the body of his work as a legal investigator over the past 25 years. Highlights of his career include work with attorneys representing Iraqi victims of the Abu Ghraib prison scandal; membership on the Equity Oversight Panel of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, which reviews investigations conducted by the Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau of employee claims of sexual harassment and discrimination; and investigations into environmental wrongdoing during construction of the Belmont Learning Complex by the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Rohman also serves as president of the City of Los Angeles Human Relations Commission and is an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School.
