Public entities are often understaffed and have only enough employees to complete the essential day-to-day work. Stepping outside the daily routine to conduct research is usually impossible, even when that information might drive important decisions. Investigators are natural researchers, and PII’s team will assist organizations in getting the answers they need.

• Depending on the type of information you seek, PII is available to:
• Conduct in-person or telephone interviews
• Make site visits
• Catalogue and review documents
• Conduct background research on complex topics
• Design and maintain databases
• Organize and present research results

The project was an outgrowth of a settlement agreement in the Grobeson litigation, a discrimination suit brought by a gay LAPD sergeant. The audit focused on treatment of City employees and job applicants and included interviews with gay and lesbian employees, review of personnel files, and analysis of hiring trends.
